I have been Superintendent of Schools in the Mauston School
District since August 2012 and came to the Mauston School District after having
been a Minnesota educator for more than 20 years. I have served as a professional educator in
the communities of Edina and Farmington, Minnesota and in the Howard-Suamico School
District in Wisconsin. My educational
experiences include classroom teacher, middle school principal, assistant
superintendent, director of special education, university assistant professor
and superintendent.
I was born in Marquette Michigan and completed my
undergraduate work at Northern Michigan University. I completed my Master’s and Doctoral work in
1988 at the University of Wisconsin Madison.
I am an intense Wisconsin Badger fan and although I lived in Minnesota
and Michigan many years, Wisconsin is home!
I very much enjoy the leadership position I hold as Mauston
School District Superintendent. During my
tenure in Mauston so far, I have worked with our schools to become Wisconsin
Title One Schools of Recognition, provided leadership in hiring new school
administrators, designed new educational programming, worked with the community
and school staff to pass a building improvement referendum, established
partnerships with Western Technical College for a High School Welding Program,
and directed the opening of a new Montessori School at West Side Elementary
School. Other leadership efforts include
the development of the 2020 Vision for strategic planning in the schools and
community and improved online school and district communications. I am a member of Kiwanis International in
Mauston and I serve on the Mauston Area Chamber of Commerce Board.
I have a son named Spenser and who lives and is employed in
the Twin Cities. In my free time I enjoy
the outdoors, jogging, reading and visiting Sanibel Island in Florida whenever
possible. I highly support an open door
practice and enjoy it when I have the opportunity to speak to staff and the
community on a regular basis. You may
